Weald Branch
Welcome
We welcome a new member to our Branch, Roger Fendall, a life member transferred from East Sussex Branch.
Summer Walk
On 19 August, our summer walk, whilst very local around the Tenterden countryside, was enjoyed by 17 walkers, ably led and organised by our committee member, Mike Hockley, assisted by Branch Treasurer, Roger Holloway.
Welcome refreshments and lunch were enjoyed by all at the White Lion, Tenterden where, after the walk, an additional 6 members joined in. Our thanks go to the planner of the walk, Ellen Green.
'Kentish Lady'
On 22 September, our committee member Jon Dixon arranged a very interesting trip to Maidstone on a beautiful sunny day with a walk along the Medway, a boat trip on the 'Kentish Lady' and then a most enjoyable lunch for the 17 members who attended.

Our thanks to Jon for making the day possible.
'The Madness of King George'
On 20 October we made a welcome return to our theatre day at the newly rebuilt Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. 30 members attended the performance of The Madness of King George which was extremely well performed but there were mixed views on the new theatre layout.
Our thanks go to Mike Hockley and Graham Horton for making the arrangements including an enjoyable lunch at the Pilgrims Hotel.
Everyone made a safe but late return to Tenterden after Canterbury came to a standstill after three major road accidents on the main entry/exit roads.
Wine and Wisdom
On 11 November we had a full house at our annual wine and wisdom evening with questions set by our Chairman, Graham Horton, ably assisted by his wife, Maxine, with sterling backroom support from their family members.

Winners were our visitors from Gillingham led by Ian Underwood with runners up a team from MacMillan Cancer Fund led by Shirley Bennett. Well done Graham and Maxine for all their hard work and to the wives of our committee members for the food preparation.
