From the Chairman
The first thing I must do on behalf of the Association is say a big thank you to Maurice Palmer. For many years he has run the lottery which has generated much needed funds for the Association.
He has called time on his involvement with it and his brother Ken has stepped up to take over the job of running it. Thanks Ken, it is much appreciated.
As our treasurer would confirm our finances could be in better shape. We do not wish to raise our subscriptions as the lottery is a way of raising the money we need without raising our subs. However to do this it must be well supported, so please, play the lottery, I ask everyone to take out a ticket.
Over the last couple of months I have attended a number of functions, two that stand out were at the Garth Ceremony in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral, where I laid a wreath on the memorial to Lord Harris our first President.
The other event was the Trafalgar Day Celebration at Deal. Organised by our Deal branch it has the involvement of other organisations in the town, a great event, so well done to the Deal Branch.
Some important dates to remember in 2014. February 19th is a special meeting for all branch Chairman, Secretaries and Treasurers. The Association Executive and Treasurer will be there. Please come along if at all possible and put forward views and comment on topics such as membership and finance.
April 2nd is the spring lunch at Canterbury
June 19th is dog racing at Sittingbourne;
July 5th is the AGM at Upchurch Golf Club.
Plenty of notice to put in your diary and book your place!
To end as always, I wish all branches success in any event that they have organised.
